Toxicology
A toxicology test (drug test or “tox screen”) looks for traces of drugs in blood, urine, hair, sweat, or saliva. Many patients need to be tested because of policies implemented by employers or schools. Providers also order toxicology tests to help treat patients for substance abuse disorders or to keep recovery on track.
A toxicology test can screen for:
Amphetamines
Barbiturates
Cocaine
Methamphetamine
Marijuana
Opiates
Phencyclidine (PCP)
Alcohol Metabolites (Ets/Etg)
Drugs banned from competitive sports
